Loved tuning in to this conversation. Enjoyed being introduced to the Nature Pyramid idea. Immersing in nature is such a tonic and this sounds like a great initiative!
Also love the connection with dad & the fairies. Made me think of my dad too who was Scottish and cultivated my connection with the fairies from an early age in his bedtime stories.
I used to bring a flask of hot water on foraging walks too, it's a lot of fun seeing what new combos you come up with by making it a regular practice.
Thank you Fiona for taking the time to listen and for sharing your experiences! It sounds like we share the gift of having special dads! 😉 I'm also so glad to know about you and your substack! I'll be following along for sure and look forward to learning more about you and your work. 🧚♀️
Thanks lovely, it was great! 💗👌🌿 I will be back on 4th July, so will reach out the following week when I have properly landed. Look forward to catching up over the summer. 😘🌸
What a joyful discussion! Thank you. I have had beautiful experiences with poppies in the past. Living in Texas, we also have the bluebonnet and Indian paintbrush season. Watching all the bees pollinating is a gift and excellent meditation. Hoping to make it to the Blue Ridge Wildflower Pilgrimage next year. My grandparents lived in Black Mountain!
Hi Krista! Thank you so much for sharing--you are so right about the meditative quality of watching bees pollinate! I couldn't agree more. It's a good reminder for me to set aside time to do just that this summer. So glad to hear that you may be attending the pilgrimage next year. It's such a wonderful event and has so much to offer. 💐
What pure joy it was to listen to your conversation with Fay! Oh my gosh I found one copy of the book "The Gentleman and the Faun" online. Excited to read it. Also how incredibly fortunate you were to have such a special father who helped you to engage and connect with nature and the magic it reveals to us! What an experience to have seen and felt the amazing "Presence" of Pan or as Fay referred to him as "Sir Nunoz. I have never heard of such a presence. An uncovering and discovery of some of our ancient past that got burned, buried and much more by the church. Love all you share with us Nina and looking forward to hearing about your new project that is in the works. Many warm blessings to you.
Aww--thank you Marylou! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the conversation. Fay is such a lovely host and so fun to chat with. I am so glad that she mentioned 'The Gentleman and the Faun". I want to read it too! I'm glad to know you were able to find a copy online. Let me know what you think when you finish it. 💐
I'll keep you posted about the book. I would imagine that reading it during summer solstice will make it all that more special. I also forgot to mention I do hope all is well from the surgery you mentioned in your post. Thank you for all you share with your substack fans. ✨️
I could send it to you if you wanted when I'm done, that is if you have a p.o. box and if you returned it at some point. I only found it on Amazon for 60 something. I wonder if a library may have it. It does seem like a book I'd like to keep.
I found a recording from the 70s of Roc reading The Gentleman and The Faun on CD. Such a good recommendation. Loved your story Nina, I’ve always felt a connection with Cerrunos and fae.
Wow Ryan--that sounds like an amazing find! I am trying to get a hold of a copy to read it. Not easy to find. Appreciate you sharing and so glad you liked the post.🧚♀️

So delighted that our conversation brought you so much joy. Sir Nunoz is Cernunnos and perhaps you will encounter him in the wild! 💚
